There’s something so special about a family gathering that brings everyone together, especially when it’s to celebrate a meaningful milestone like a christening. On the 25th of April, our team were honoured to cater for a beautiful christening party for 40 guests, even the sun made a welcome appearance and loved ones gathered around, all that was needed was delicious, comforting food to complete the day and that’s exactly what we provided at Hog Roast Lawford.
Our Catering Managers, Kirsty and Julian, arrived on site and could instantly feel a sense of excitement in the air. Christenings can blend generations, from babies to proud grandparents, so for these types of events especially, we always aim to create a menu that caters to everyone. That’s where our signature hog roast really stands out. With a serve time of 2:30, our team was busy preparing the feast on site, long before the first guest built their perfect plate.
The whole roasted pig, slow cooked to perfection, with crispy crackling, served alongside classic favourites like sage and onion stuffing and apple sauce, it’s a combination that will please even the pickiest of guests. Add in a selection of soft bread rolls and wraps, plus smaller finger rolls for the children, and you’ve got a meal that’s as practical as it is delicious. Of course, no feast is complete without sides and this feast didn’t disappoint. Guests were able to enjoy a fresh mixed salad and a generous helping of coleslaw, adding a light and refreshing balance to the rich flavours of the hog roast.
We’re always mindful of dietary preferences too and this event was no different. Our homemade vegetarian and vegan options proved just as popular as the meat options. The grilled vegetable and halloumi skewers were full of flavour, especially when paired with wraps, tzatziki dip and a sweet yet spicy chilli sauce. As well as this the vegan pulled jackfruit, served in a soft bun and with smoky hickory BBQ sauce was on offer to add to the guests plates, which even meat eaters were tempted to give it a try!
Everything was served on eco-friendly wooden disposable crockery with matching cutlery, which made it easy for guests to relax and enjoy the day without worrying about the clean up. It’s touches like these that help create a seamless, stress-free experience for hosts.
What stood out most about this event wasn’t just the food, it was the atmosphere. Laughter, conversation, the little ones running around with their mini rolls and a sense of creating long lasting memories as a family. It’s the kind of environment we love being part of at Hog Roast Lawford.
