Any fellow bookworms out there? We love a good read here at Hog Roast Colchester. From time to time before an event starts you might glimpse one or two of our chefs and servers taking a quick break to have a read. Hog roasts take a long time to cook, after all, and if we have everything else prepped and ready to go ahead of service then a book helps pass those hours of roasting quite nicely.
We’re not the only ones of course, as our Hog Roast Colchester team were contacted by a local book club just last week. The monthly club normally sets up in a local bar or event hall and discusses that month’s book, but with the weather being so wonderful at the moment the organisers of the club figured it would be far nicer to set up their monthly meeting out in the park instead holing up in a dark pub on a lovely summer’s day. This meeting also happened to coincide with their year anniversary as a club, so they had already decided on making it more of an event than usual also. This is why we were first contacted, and when it was clear that the weather was going to be nice the order soon became for an outdoor barbecue service to go along with their discussion. We were of course all too happy to take the order even with only a little more than a week’s notice. We can do quick turnarounds when the event looks possible to do so; our only regret in this instance is that we didn’t have more than a week to also catch up on the club’s book of the month so that we could join in the discussion too!
The weather was perfect for it, so our chefs got to making up handmade burgers, sausages, and veg skewers to go along with the club’s afternoon of discussion and anniversary celebration. Someday someone might even write their own story about the brilliance of Hog Roast Colchester and the perfect book club day!
