One of the wonderful things we see in our event catering is just how integral food and good dining can be to community. It’s something that brings friends and family together, a place where stories can be shared, discussions had, catch-ups made, memories cherished and enjoyed forevermore.
It’s one of the joys of our job that we get to be a part of such special moments, and there are perhaps none more special than an event specifically held to celebrate the life of a friend and loved one. At Hop Roast Clacton-on-Sea we have typically taken the view that life can and should be celebrated as one passes. A life lived is always something to cherish and celebrate, even during the grief of losing them.
Recently Julian and Kirsty of Hog Roast Clacton-on-Sea held some sombre yet sweet discussions with a local resident of the area about the passing of their husband. Their husband had specifically requested that their life be celebrated, and that friends and family should share in a joyous event where memories of his life could be shared over some good food. The Hog Roast Clacton-on-Sea were more than happy to take on the role of caterer for this very special event. We thought it was just such a wonderful way to mark someone’s passing, by truly celebrating who they were and how they touched the lives of all those around them throughout the years.
With the view that the dining should be secondary to the actual reason for the event, Julian and Kirsty figured that a more light approach would work best. Rather than stopping down the event to conduct a formal service, the Hog Roast Clacton-on-Sea team instead set up a beautifully arranged grazing table with a selection of our antipasti meats, cheeses, breads, and leaves. Served along with grilled veg and halloumi skewers, gluten-free rolls, and baby new potatoes, this colourful and tasty arrangement would allow guests to come and take their foods as they desired. This way, the true reason for the event could continue on without interruption, and we could provide an arrangement just as colourful in life as the man we were celebrating.
