VE Day Celebrations with Hog Roast Colchester

Hog Roast ColchesterIt is always important to remember the events of the past and how they allow us to live as we do today. VE Day (or Victory in Europe Day) is the remembrance and celebration of Germany’s unconditional surrender in the 2nd  World War – the whole of Europe erupted in celebration at the end of WWII in Europe. Hog Roast Colchester were given the incredible opportunity to continue that ongoing celebration, 80 years later.

We were invited by guest Nick Smith, to cater for a belated VE Day Party. The guests looked incredible, done up with military uniforms, suits, and stunning dresses; we were blown away by the regalness off their outfits. If that wasn’t enough of a sight to see, they hired helicopters for the guests to take 10-minute hops, and because Hog Roast Colchester arrived on time, we were able to have a little trip out along with the band members too. And if that wasn’t enough to blow your socks off, then surely the Static Spitfire Display Team and the Spitfire Fly over is sure to do the trick.

Hog Roast ColchesterAnd if you are still not completely shocked astonished, the Hog Roast Colchester menu will leave you astounded. We served our signature whole roasted hog, cut and carved to be served as tender pulled pork and juicy marinated chicken thighs with soft and airy bread rolls. For the vegetarian guests, we grilled up some colourful vegetable and halloumi skewers and slow simmered BBQ pulled jackfruit to have that desirable authentic smoky flavour. And finally, for the sides, a crunchy mixture of sweet potato and traditional fries alongside herb dress buttery potatoes to choose from.

It was an incredible day and certainly a first for our staff to get helicopter rides on job – it was such an honour to cater for such a momentous occasion, we really hope to be back for the next day of remembrance to look back and appreciate all of the sacrifice of veterans and the persistence of each country to reach peace.
