One of the best parts of the traditional British cuisine is undoubtedly our roasts. Such a simple yet delicious dinner, it is a hallmark of British dining, and one that you would certainly miss if you lived away from home for a while.
That, at least, is what the Hog Roast Fordham were reliably informed of by one our customers a few weeks back. As a caterer of traditional hog and other meat roasts, we had a customer, David, come to us to help cater for the surprise homecoming party of his friend Gareth. Gareth has spent the last three years living and working abroad in Australia – about as far away as you can get from the UK and our comforting roasts. Now, however, Gareth and his partner are returning home for good, so David figured it would be nice to put on a surprise party with all of their friends and welcome them back with many of the classically British things that they have missed while away.
One thing that they certainly returned to in classic British style was some wet and cold weather – the perfect way to be welcomed back from the sunny heights of Oz. But that is why our roasts are so adored here in the UK. When it is cold out, you’ve always got a good roast to warm you up and comfort you, and it doesn’t get much more comforting than that of Hog Roast Fordham’s signature pork roast. Gareth and his partner were well surprised to return to all of their friends and family awaiting them, and perhaps even more so to also see our Hog Roast Fordham chefs also there waiting with their favourite British foods.
We had our hog roast along with a classic beef roast and Yorkshire puddings – a must, if you have been away from home for too long. We also had our own gourmet burgers, sausages, marinated ribs, BBQ pulled jackfruit as a vegan alternative, and many fresh accompaniments of refreshing greens, slaws, roasted veg, golden roasties, and fries.
If ever there was a way to celebrate returning home, that may have just been it! A wonderful celebration of good friendships and good traditional foods with Hog Roast Fordham!
